3DVA Cow Body!!

Err.. So I kinda said I was gonna post everything at once, but I realise my cowbody maya file was in my thumbdrive which I had lent my friend. Soo.. xP

Anyways.. These are some pictures of my cow body slowly becoming "beautiful".

This is the body, all the limbs and necks were created from a single cube where i extruded faces of the cow. Fairly simple part. Just plain extruding and editing of vertices here and there

Next up is the cow's hands.

This hand is basically the same as the body, all i did was create a cube, and extrude the faces. The thumb was the tricky part. Getting it to look like a thumb took a couple of retries for me. Also When I extruded the fingers, I extruded them all at once, so the vertexes were joined together.. So i had to redo wheee..

Now, I will show you separate parts of the cow body after I have finished touching up on it.

Alrite this part was fairly simple. All I did was play around with the vertexes, fixed the hoofs a bit, and extruded the back part of the hand so it has a connector or whatever you call it. In the picture I have not removed the face of the back part, but I did that in the actual model. Lets see.. I didnt face much of a problem in here, other then this part being time consuming.

Now! These are the final pictures of my completed Cow Body attached to the cow head. I added some extra hair on the cow to give it more character and also to balance out the proportions.

This final part was simple all I had to do was joined the open vertexes together using the merge vertex thingy. Fairly simple, for the hair I just used a single cone and scale it down and then duplicate and scale it smaller for the smaller parts.

This tutorial was pretty fun to do, although time consuming. I learnt a couple of new things while doing this. Before I did not really know that you could extrude something to this extend, and all I did was created different parts, for example the limbs I would create the hand and the fingers seperate then combine them together. Extruding is a great tool.

The Question Of The Week!

What happens when you bevel a vertex?

Answer:  This  --> I beveled only 1 vertex here and it looked kinda nice So I played a little more..

This is what happens when I bevel everything

And this is what happens when I bevel random vertexes
Sort of like some weird machinery..

Thanks!
